7 Dog-Friendly Cottages in Bideford

,

Hands up, guilty as charged, we love our dog as much as we love our kids and thinking of going away without her is just not even something we would consider.

So we’ve hand-picked you 7 cottages that are dog friendly right here in Bideford.

Below is our curated selection of pet-friendly cottages in Bideford. If they’re already booked up (as they do go fast!), see our directory of where to stay in Bideford as we have all the cottages, lodges, lofts, apartments, etc… as there are almost 200 properties in the local area. And that’s excluding campsites, caravan parks or glamping options!

Right… so many to cover, let’s start with one that has a swimming pool!

*Pets are probably not allowed in the pool

Pill Head House

This is a converted cider house on a farm. When you walk in you’re treated to huge original wooden beams in the ceiling and white-washed walls. It’s an open living plan for the main area, which has a modern kitchen, dining table and comfortable sofas in front of the cast iron fire.

The cottage has one bedroom and sleeps 2, plus the dog. There is a jacuzzi bath to wind the evening away in and a seasonal swimming pool to enjoy during the summer months. The perfect romantic location just East of Bideford.

Shangri-La, Bideford

The property is considerably larger with 4 bedrooms and it sleeps up to 8 people and two dogs are welcome!

You’re almost in the centre of Bideford, well just across the Bideford Long Bridge, so everything is a short walk away. On that point, there is a balcony and because the property is on the East side of Bideford, you’ll be able to watch the sun go down over the top of Bideford, maybe while having a sip of wine?

The first floor is a huge open living space with a dining table for 8, sofas, fire, a huge TV and views for days. There s a hot tub in the garden, there is also an open pond too (this is not a cold tub for the dogs though).

The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher. So whipping up snacks for the beach or a Sunday roast is not a problem here. The are 4 bedrooms, 3 on the ground floor and the master on the first floor.

This is an ideal choice for a long weekend (the min stay is 3 days) and for those with friends or larger families who want something close to all the amenities, but large enough for everyone.

Springfield Cottage

Spread over 3 levels, Springfield Cottage is sat almost right on the river Torrdige. Again proximity to the heart of Bideford is almost a stone’s throw away.

Having two bedrooms, it sleeps four, plus up to three dogs are welcome!

The ground floor has a kitchen, bathroom, shower and living/dining area with a double sofa bed and electric woodburning effect fire and TV. ideal for chilling out during a hard day of surfing, shopping or just cuddling up with the hounds (all 3 of them?!)

Stoneleigh

Ok, hands up, this is not a cottage, but a HUGE house with a side cottage as well! This 1881 Victorian house sleeps up to 17 people, has 9 bedrooms and just enough room for up to four dogs (there is a surcharge per dog).

There is an Xbox One games console and WiFi, so that’s the kids covered.

In the main house, there are six bedrooms and views over the gardens, the master bedroom has a four-poster bed and en-suite. A huge kitchen that could help feed a small army and the biggest dining table you have ever seen, so getting the whole family around for Sunday lunch or maybe a party to celebrate is easily done.

There is also Cider Cottage, which is a self-contained suite with a super king-size bed and its own small kitchenette AND… There is a coach house on the grounds that offers two bedrooms, a sitting area with wood burning stove, a basic kitchen/diner and a family bathroom.

Based just North of Bideford, you’re close to the entire Bideford Bay area with everything close by to keep everyone amused.

Cecily Cottage, Westward Ho!

Just around the corner from Bideford is the only town that has a ! mark in its name, Westward Ho!

Cecily Cottage is a dog-friendly terraced cottage with beautiful sea views. With two double bedrooms and a single, this property sleeps up to 5 people and is pet friendly.

With the coastline so close by, this is an ideal spot for dog owners, either to walk the seaside town back streets or to explore the coastline with the woods. The beach is dog friendly, the entire beach during the off-season months and from the path that crosses the stones, Northwards all the way to grey sands at the top.

There is a wood-burning stove, a free-standing bath and even a seating area with a patio outside, making it an ideal bolt-hole for a couple of days away.

Daisy Cottage, Bideford

I know this cottage first hand as I’ve stayed there myself! (see the description above for the full details)

It sleeps 6, with two double bedrooms and two single beds. Its placed at the North end of Bideford and made the fantastic base for the family as the A39 is only a minute or two away, giving amazing access to Bude or any of the northern beaches such as Sauton Sands, Croyde, Woolacombe or even Ilfracombe.

Pet friendly, it has a small garden to the rear, a dining room that seats six and a cosy front room with a huge smart TV.

Littleham Court Cottage, Littleham

Sleeping 5 with 3 bedrooms, the Littleham Court Cottage is in Littleham, which is the higher ground to the South West of Bideford and is nestled in farmland.

With its exposed beams, the open-planned living area features a pool table and huge TV. Perfect for fun with the kids (and big kids). You can throw open the French doors to dining alfresco and you can even make use of the pizza oven, BBQ and hot tub in the evenings.

On the ground floor, there’s a single bedroom with a shower room next door, ideal for elderly visitors to avoid climbing stairs. The other two bedrooms are upstairs.

This is an ideal location to bring the parents to and for those who want to be close to everything that is going on in and around the Bideford area, but want to be outside in the green farmlands.

Bonus One! The Crab Shell, Appledore

I had to sneak this one in. Go take a look at the photos for this cottage in the details above and you’ll understand why.

Based in the fishing village of Appledore, just a few minutes drive of Bideford and within easy walking distance of Bideford. The Crab Shell is a 3-bedroom house that sleeps 6 and is dog friendly.

Gas central heating, log burner, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, TV, Freeview, Blu-ray DVD, WiFi and a front room with amazing views of Instoew, just across the river.
