Appledore is a village at the mouth of the River Torridge, about 6 miles west of Barnstaple and about 3 miles north of Bideford in the county of Devon, England. It is a lovely historic fishing village with winding narrow streets and colourful houses. For centuries, Appledore was an important shipbuilding centre for the region and the village's large indoor ship yard continues to be a source of employment for many of the residents. You can try very delicious Hocking's Ice Cream there, a brand of ice cream only sold in North Devon! It has a great Promenade with benches to sit and enjoy watching the sailing boats and much more to exolore!Decent size car park with toilet facilities is next to the Promenade.Definitely recommend it!

A nice village to have a walk along the promenade and some streets with small shops. Please mind that not all shops are open the whole week. Some are only open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There is a foot ferry to Instow, another small village with a wide beach. Both places are worth a visit for at least a few hours. Just enjoy the atmosphere, the seagulls, children catching crabs and everything these places have to offer.

First time watching gig boat racing. All the teams involved did really well. Lovely little shops to visit while you're there.

5/5, I can’t think of any negatives. Enjoy a delicious ice cream while sitting on a bench, overlooking the glossy river and the beautiful beach of Instow. Across the car park is a playground for kids, including swings, see saws, and a zip line. Be careful walking across the playground, as the zip wire stretches across some of it. Up the ramp from there is a small Beach covered in pebbles and sea glass. Appledore is home to lots and lots of sea glass. The people are very friendly. Appledore is a great place to go if you need to get out the house, for both adults and kids!

We have had holidays here and just visited it. We had takeaway Fish and Chips from The Royal Plaice…excellent fish and chips, very nicely presented with lemon slice and a bit of parsley….. followed by a Hockings Icecream….👌….what an excellent dinner.
