Marwood Hill Gardens

Marwood Hill Gardens is a unique private garden located near the villages of Guineaford and Ashford, north of Barnstaple in Devon, England.

Established in 1965 by the Miller family, the 20-acre grounds include a wide variety of plants, trees, and shrubs that are native to the British Isles.

Many rare and endangered species can be found growing in the grounds of Marwood Hill Gardens.

There is also a number of woodland walks, water features, and terraces. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful view of Exmoor National Park, as well as stunning views of the Taw Valley while walking through the gardens

The gardens are open to visitors throughout the year and offer special events such as educational talks and weekly guided tours. There is also a popular plant centre for gardening enthusiasts

Lovely gardens with ponds. It was just a bit too muddy when we visited in April. Improved paths, boardwalks, etc. would help access all areas of the gardens during wet weather.

Marvellous private garden open to the public for an entrance fee. Very nice tea room with inside seating plus outside covered area and patio. Dog friendly but keep on leads. Set in a wooded valley with lakes and a stream running through, lots of specimen trees and plants. Plant sales from a walled garden. Open in February on Wednesdays and Sundays for snowdrop days and then from the 1st of March. About 100m walk down a lane from the car park but a couple of spaces by entrance for the less abled. Wheelchair accessible to the tea room but not much further, I would phone them to enquire further about access.

Marwood Hill Gardens is really the place to visit. We had a lovely day, beautiful gardens not to be missed if you are in the area. If you enjoy walking, this is for you, there are lot's of dams with lots of fish in them. Suitable for wheelchairs or buggy users, if you enjoy walking up hills, this is for you. Big tea-room, you can sit outside or inside serving a variety of cakes, light meals, hot & cold drinks. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Disabled toilet and accessible entrance. Big tables airy, spacious and clean environment well maintained at high spec. We'll certainly come again. We highly recommend everyone.

Small but beautiful gardens! We went in early October and it was still just as lovely.But the tea room was our highlight! The ginger scones are AMAZING! The team were really friendly and great with my young kids ❤️

Lovely walk with some places having an amazing view. Great for nature photographers too! Had a cream tea on Sunday and it was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend.
