Brilliant restaurant with some exemplary quality of food! Would/will be going again! The oysters are especially good but aren’t served on Sunday!

3rd time we have visited with our small dog and every time the food and service has been excellent! Its so refreshing to find an establishment that truly understands customer experience and providing great service. I highly recommend. My tip is to always book, as it gets very busy.

We had a lovely family lunch at The Boathouse. All having the roasts which were delicious. Being able to take our dog in was one of the reasons for going there.

We went on a Thursday night, and for a late April was quite busy. Atmosphere is good and relaxed in the bar area and dogs are allowed. There didn't appear to be enough staff on, and the ones that were (3 of them) were doing a good job of taking orders for food and drink, and pouring the drinks themselves, making the overall service a little slow. To start, I had mackerel pate with sourdough and it was excellent with a pickled chutney on the side. And for main course I went for hake on the bone from the specials board. The hake was lovely, the side salad very tasty, but why on earth can't anyone in Instow cook decent chips 😢. We ate out in 3 places in Instow and each one served fries which I assume were cooked from frozen and not particularly tasty or appealing. It puts the rest of the meal in the shade a little, and it certainly wasn't what I was expecting for a £50 per head, meal. Sticky toffee pudding was good, but tasted a little like an "off the production line" dessert from a decent supermarket. All in all, I was left slightly disappointed with the overall meal. The place gives the impression of a high quality gastronomic delight, but was more like a pub meal.

We had my Mother's 80th birthday celebrations here and we couldn't be more pleased that we picked the right place to have it. We were sat in the bar area as we had dogs with us, but it didn't matter, as it was a very pleasant area, lots of room so you didn't feel crammed in, a beautiful view and comfortable chairs. The staff were brilliant. Obviously very busy but they were still attentive and all very pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing! Couldn't fault a thing. Would highly recommend this place and are definitely coming back ourselves!
