The Milkyway Adventure Park

The Milkyway Adventure Park

Looking for a fun day out with the family? Look no further than the Milkyway Adventure Park!

Located near Bideford in North Devon, the Milkyway offers a wide range of activities and attractions for visitors of all ages. Even big kids.

Editorial Note

Besides the sheer variety of things to do here, the key thing to note for parents is that the Milkyway works on both dry and wet days.

We have been here multiple times as the kids have got older. And experienced the staff managing wet weather and opening rides as and when they can.

They do host an outdoor show for the birds of prey, ironically, we’ve never seen it as we have always been too busy inside, on the roller coasters, bumper cars or shooting down the gravity rider. I think we have done “Ziggy’s Blast Quest” at least 50 times each (no joke).

I can confirm large “kids” (adults) will fit in all the soft play areas and horseshoe slide and on the carpet slide mats and in the ninja place and so on…

Attractions

The Milkyway has a variety of attractions to keep everyone entertained, including:

  • Rollercoasters
Thrill-seekers will love the Cosmic Typhoon and the Clone Zone rollercoasters, both of which offer high-speed twists and turns.
  • Adventure play areas
Let the kids run wild in the huge indoor adventure play area or the outdoor play area, complete with a giant bouncing pillow.
  • Droid Destroyer Dodgems
18 state-of-the-art cars on a 2500 sq ft track in a themed building with special sound and lighting effects. Suitable for all generations and regularly enjoyed by families together, including parent and child sessions for smaller children over 0.8m, and the option to ride as many times as you like.
  • Ziggy’s Blast Quest
Pilot Cyber Scooters, powered by Cerilion Boosters and equipped with twin Blasteroid Lasers, to destroy asteroids and meteors heading towards Earth after receiving training from the Blast Force team.
  • Shows
Be amazed by the Milkyway’s famous bird of prey and magic shows, performed daily.
  • Exhibits
Learn about the solar system and the universe at the Milkyway’s Space Odyssey exhibit, or explore the park’s fascinating historical exhibits.
  • Animals
Meet some furry and feathered friends at the Milkyway’s petting zoo, where you can pet and feed a range of cute and cuddly animals.

Events

Throughout the year, the Milkyway hosts a range of special events, from Halloween and Christmas celebrations to outdoor concerts and live performances.

Check the park’s website for upcoming events.

Dining and shopping

After a day of fun and adventure, refuel at the Milkyway’s on-site cafe, serving a range of hot and cold meals, snacks, and drinks. And don’t forget to stop by the gift shop for souvenirs and mementoes of your visit.

Location and Admission

The Milkyway is located just off the A39 near Clovelly, and is open daily from 10am to 5pm.

Admission prices vary depending on age and the time of year, with discounts available for online booking and groups. Visit the Milkyway’s website for up-to-date information on admission prices and opening times.

As a parent too, having somewhere that works on a dry AND a wet day for the kids is amazing. Super friendly staff, lots to do. Even big kids can go down the slides.

It's a family friendly adventure park. It would be difficult to hold teenage attention for more than a few hours but for half a day there's probably enough. It was generally tidy and clean though some of the rides could do with a lick of paint. The staff were all friendly. The birds of prey show was great and absolutely the main attraction for me. Very informative. Hopefully you'll not have a northerly wind!Access was simple, parking seemed plenty (though we did come out of school holiday time – no school aged children with us).The Dodgems were good fun 😊.
Second time visiting this little gem. It's reasonably priced as it's not the biggest or best theme park but it's excellent for young kids. I would say between the ages of 4 and 11. Lots to do, easily filling 5 hours. My favourite is the bird display, the chap is excellent and is really passionate about what he does.

All staff were incredibly polite and helpful. Great day out. My son and I loved the Star Wars exhibit. The bird of prey show was amazing and the gentleman was passionate and dedicated. The magician/merlin show was also amazing. Lots to do and very committed workforce that creates a relaxed and lovely experience. Very good for rainy days as most inside.

What an absolute treat for toddlers! We came on a weekday so it was fairly quiet but it was awesome. Age appropriate rides and slides and shows all really good. Amazing customer service, all of the staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived (excellent explanation of where everything was and how the park operated) and helpful staff on all the activities. Highly recommended for toddlers and we will come back.

Came here as a child ALL the time but moved away years ago, decided to drive here for the day with my little boy, A LOT has changed and not all for the better, but we had a great time, my little boy loved it, not many places you get the big slides! One thing that’s important to us is that staff aren’t strict in who can go on what/with you. My 3 year old absolutely loves a death slide but of course I don’t let him go on his own and the lovely man who was working in the soft play area with the big slides (sat 30th June) was always encouraging everyone who was a little scared about the slides to do it including children on laps. Most places don’t let that happen so we had an absolute blast (and walked away with an amazingly happy boy who got to go on all the slides!) dogems and roller coasters are a laugh. Seen a lot of reviews that say it’s ’run down’ are forgetting how long this place has been open for! I think they’ve done a great job! I do miss the archery & golf but they’ve replaced that with pottery painting (which we enjoyed) and some other bits. Cafe food was pretty good, my son enjoyed the train but could do with a few more (fake) animals, or maybe a little sheet to tick off which animals you see etc on the way as it’s a very very slow train. I enjoyed the ride on laser shooting ride. It’s cute. Only tiny thing I have is me & 2 other came home with bites over our legs :S but…great day!
