Fabulous gastro grub. We came from Pillhead Farm via the minor roads – NOT for the feint hearted! (Returned via the A39).We had booked in advance, and good job we did, it was well busy. Service was quite slow, but I couldn't complain as the majority of the work was being done by the middle-aged blonde lady, who was running around like a headless chicken.The food, though not particularly cheap, was absolutely fabulous. My wife had a steak cooked to perfection. And my steak and ale pie was quite possibly the best I've ever had. Massive chunks of beef in a rich and plentiful gravy, not at all dry like as in many places I've eaten. And the shortcrust pastry was divine, crumbly (even the lower half), and sweet tasting – almost like shortbread biscuits. There were no complaints from the others in our party, not even the kids.There is a good-sized car park, and a moderately equipped playground in the garden helped keep the kids busy.

Lovely, cosy Devon pub. It has a large outdoor seating area and a nice vibe inside. Very friendly and attentive staff. We were impressed by both the variety and quality of food! This was our first time visiting this pub but we shall definitely return.
