Morte Point

Morte Point gives you an exhilarating coastal experience as you explore its raw beauty through water sports acitivities, wildlife spotting, or even in a relaxing picnicking.

Morte Point

Morte Point is a stunning stretch of coastline located in Woolacombe, Devon, UK

It is an integral part of the South West Coast Path and forms one of the most dramatic sections of coastline in the country

Situated between Baggy Point and Woolacombe, this dramatic headland has been carved by the sea over centuries, creating fissures and caves that can be explored at low tide

The rocky outcrops create an ever-changing jumble of rock stacks, providing prime views across Morte Bay where Atlantic waters lap the shoreline

Morte Point’s dizzying cliffs are dotted with a variety of seabirds including guillemots, razorbills and fulmars, against a spectacular backdrop of clear blue skies and deep green hills

With vast stretches of sandy-white beaches lapped by turquoise waters, it’s easy to see why Morte Point has long been regarded as one of the most beautiful places on the South Coast

Whether you come to explore the incredible wildlife or simply take in the view, there’s something about this place that will captivate your heart

Beautiful spot! We walked a loop around the headland on Chistmas Eve and saw seals basking on the rocks below. Probably took an 1hr 30 mins with dog and kids. The path is steep and narrow in places but well defined and wide enough. It was blustery when we were there which added to the overall rugged beauty of the place.

This was well worth the walk. Incredible views of the coast & Woolacombe & only a 30 minute walk from Mortehoe. Good dog walk but only on lead.

We've often walked the coastal path directly from North Morte Farm, but public access can be found from Mortehoe or Woolacombe. There's plenty of wildlife to see and seals can often be found swimming below the cliffs. Look out for enormous Shaggy Parasol mushrooms in autumn. There's a number of paths that lead up and over the middle of Morte Point from the main one along it's edges – worth exploring if you've time, as there's great views all around the coast.

Beautiful viewpoint, well worth a wander down. On a clear day you can see Lundy and beyond.
