Mound

Constructed in 1864 using the recycled material of an old quay wall and rockfall, Mound includes a large seafront area with breathtaking views over the estuary
It is a popular walking spot with visitors who can enjoy strolling along the promenade taking in the different views and attractions of this location
There is also a wealth of wildlife to be spotted around Mound; otters, swans and ducks are often sighted swimming and preening in this idyllic spot, making it an ideal place for bird watching and photographing the local wildlife
Mound is also home to some of Barnstaple’s historic landmarks including Woodville Almshouses which date back to 1687, explaining why this is such an attractive and popular spot to visit
