Ilfracombe Museum is a heritage attraction in the quintessential British seaside town of Ilfracombe, Devon

Originally established in 1954, the museum is located in a historic former public baths building located on Wilder Road, spanning two storeys and three distinctive galleries

The museum exhibits tell stories of local history and uncover the local industrial heritage; from fishing, mining, quarrying and smuggling to holiday-making and our famous tourist attractions

Inside you’ll get to explore over 130 years of Ilfracombe life, taking you through realistic scenes which include a High Street, Kitchen and Activities Room

Each display is filled with costumed figures with interesting facts and anecdotes to discover

Alongside the displays, there is also an array of interactive exhibits and activities available for children

A visit to the Ilfracombe Museum is not complete without exploring their outdoor artifacts, including a decommissioned Fire Engine and vintage ambulance

Lovely well maintained museum, it holds a range of every day items from 1800's up to fairly recent times. Covering War times, social changes and evolution of Ilfracombe.Although with how times have changed, I wonder if some of the artifacts could be returned to their natural collections. Egypt and Peru. The wedding cake from 1900s and every moth and butterfly you could imagine. It's a great little place to stop and if the kids like arts and crafts then why not do some brass rubbing. £2each.Volunteers were so informative, friendly and just a pleasure.

Lovely little museum, with the normal eclectic mix of English treasures. I particularly enjoyed the radio 2nd world war interviews, the war photos and letters in the end room and the virtual train journey projected against the wall.

Hasn't changed much since I was a kid but doesn't need to and still value for money. Really interesting for such a small museum with a good mix of local and international exhibits including the famous two headed kitten.

Brilliant little museum. Lots of interesting things in such a small space. We got there at 4:30 and they close at 5pm, the staff were ever so obliging by asking for a donation instead of charging us full price. Highly recommend!!! Wish we had more time to explore, until next time.
