Buoy Cottage.
Bell Buoy Cottage is a charming thatched terraced house located in Morwenstow, a small village in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The original cast iron bell buoy, now covered in honeysuckle, adds a homely factor to the cobbled garden next to the green front door. Open the door and arrive into the cosy cottage with its many original features such as the inglenook fireplace with clome oven, ancient wooden and flagstone flooring, and rustic exposed beams.
Take a seat in the sitting room with its vintage furniture and turn on the TV/DVD; to keep extra warm during winter months, put on the stove and snuggle up! Through to the kitchen, well-equipped as it may be, take a moment to sit on the window seat and watch village life go by. Then, choose between enjoying meals in the bright dining room with its wood panelled walls and pretty decorations, or outside under a parasol on the charming patio surrounded by steps and flowers.
Upstairs you will find two bedrooms; one double with a vaulted ceiling and wide, polished floorboards, the other a sweet twin room perfect for the kids. Downstairs the bathroom showcases mosaic tiles, with a bath and electric shower, and heated towel rail to dry off wet swimming gear.
Take a coffee from the village shop, just a few hundred meters away, and head off to explore the national park and its spectacular South West Coast path with its 300ft high jagged cliffs. If a traditional cream tea is what you’re after, visit Rectory Tea Rooms. Further up, Hartland Abbey is definitely worth the visit, as is Docton Mill for its beautiful gardens. Finish the day at Sandymouth beach, a National Trust beach with plenty of sand when the tide is out, and a delightful café should you not wish to take a picnic.
