Situated just over half a mile from the quaint village of Sheepwash, The Long House is one of two holiday cottages located on a 25 acre smallholding set in the tranquil Torridge Valley.

This Grade II listed thatched farmhouse dates back to the 1600s and boasts a cozy family atmosphere. Friends of the cottage can enjoy sheep, goats and llamas kept by the proprietor. Inside, guests will find wooden beams in the spacious, welcoming sitting room that make for a warm, toasty evening. That same warm atmosphere transfers into the kitchen/diner, an excellent spot for socializing later in the day.

Upstairs are three comfortable bedrooms, two doubles and one twin, dressed in stately furnishings. Outside there’s a private garden with seating, perfect for taking in plenty of birdsong and animal sounds from the farm. Adventurous holidaymakers will be delighted to know there’s also a private grass airstrip if they want to fly to stay at the cottage, unlocking majestic coastal farmland and moorland elsewhere in Devon and Cornwall.

Back in Sheepwash village, a mile away, there is a pub, a shop, friendly locals, and the stunning River Torridge where guests can go trout fishing or take a leisurely riverside walk. Closer still are market towns like Great Torrington, Bideford and Barnstaple, and North Devon’s celebrated golden beaches, all just a short drive from The Long House.
