Torridge District Council is championing local businesses with a new grant, providing up to £1,000 to fund their visual transformations.
Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, this initiative aims to breathe new life into town centres, promoting their unique charm and character.
The council is pledging to finance up to half of each project’s cost, stimulating local businesses to take part in this transformative opportunity.
The goal is to foster a vibrant, attractive environment that draws in customers and invites new businesses to the area.
Applications are open until June 7 for businesses in Bideford, Northam, Westward Ho!, Appledore, Great Torrington and Holsworthy. Applicants are encouraged to align their proposals with local aesthetics and respect conservation areas.
The scope of projects can range from storefront revamps to town centre art installations, all due for completion by October 2023.
Sean Kearney, Head of Communities and Place, highlighted the scheme’s potential, saying it provides a springboard for businesses to kickstart new projects or expand existing ones.
The initiative is designed to enhance the towns’ appeal while allowing businesses to improve their customer appeal.
