I was staying locally and came here 3 consecutive days for lunch. The service was friendly, the locals were welcoming and the food was tremendous (imaginative and varied vegan and vegetarian choices). The local dogs were also great and my 2 Irish Setters were given a fuss, treats and a water bowl and they loved it too. Great beer, also! Will definitely come back here when in the area. Thank you all and hope to be back soon.

Food was sooooo good! Couldnt eat it all but they were happy to pack it up for me to eat at the Youth Hostel later. And the waiting staff were fantastic, as someone who also does that job, they were brilliant given how many tables they covered. And the regulars were super friendly too.

Wonderful no- nonsense traditional pub. Brilliant "small plate" menu which is excellent value alongside a normal menu. The greatest thing about the Anchor is the people – both the local regulars and staff, super friendly and sociable.

We are staying in our motorhome nearby and walked down for dinner. We had decided where we were going but as it started to rain we went into the first pub we found. I’m so glad we did! Lovely old traditional pub, friendly staff and great food! We had to wait quite a while for our dinner but I didn’t mind as it was all homemade and freshly cooked. I’m vegetarian and get used to the usual boring selection but the vegan vegetable plait I ordered was one of the nicest meals out I’ve ever had in a pub ☺️

Good food, beer was fresh. Plenty of games available. Pool darts board games and a large veranda for soaking up the weather and countryside views
