Furze Park Camping offers back-to-basics pitches on a 130-acre organic farm on the edge of Exmoor, near Kentisbury Ford and around 20 minutes drive from Barnstaple.

This secluded rural site has wild camping pitches with basic toilet facilities, running water and picnic tables. The farm is part of an organic livestock enterprise spread over 16 acres, so there’s plenty of space to spread out and plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife, especially if you take a walk around the pond next to the pitching area. You can even arrange guided walks from the site to search for red deer nearby.

As this is wild camping, facilities on site are fairly basic, but there is a communal firepit and barbecue area, and barbecues are allowed as long as they’re kept off the ground. At weekends, the 16th-century barn opens up to serve wood-fired pizzas and full English breakfasts (which you’ll need to order in advance). There’s a local pub five minutes drive away for family meals and takeaways.

The site is conveniently located less than a mile from the A39, making it easy to explore Devon. It’s also only a 10-minute drive from Combe Martin Beach and around 20 minutes from Woolacombe. As Exmoor is one of the UK’s Dark Sky Parks, stargazing by night is highly recommended.
